More on The Village Voice: Features: Dying for War by Alisa Solomon

The other very distressing information in this article was that the Bush Administration had put this whole war plan together PRE- 9/11! I composed the following email, and sent it to a wide range of more "mainstream" media outlets.

Journalist Alisa Solomon, writing in New York’s Village Voice this week, quotes policy analyst Phyllis Bennis in "Understanding the U.S.-Iraq Crisis: A Primer" (available at www.ips-dc.org). “The threats of war are driven by oil and empire—expanding U.S. military and economic power." She quotes Bennis further: “Much of the plan was set forth before 9-11, in a blueprint written in September 2000 for Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and others, by the neoconservative think tank Project for a New American Century. The plan includes attacking Iraq to force a regime change and insists on ‘maintaining global U.S. preeminence’ and ‘shaping the international security order in line with American principles and interests.’” Solmon concludes that this plan has conveniently found a rationale in the "war against terrorism."

I have not seen this reported anywhere else in the media. I would hope that (media outlet name) will investigate this angle, and if it is true, see that it is reported more widely to the American public. Now is the time.

Thanks for your attention,
Liz Nealon
